Privacy and Ref7
Last updated: September 2026
General information about the controller, website provision and hosting, contact, legal bases and data subject rights is provided in the general Privacy Policy for praetorius.at.
1. Principles of Data Processing in Ref7
Ref7 was developed so that using the app itself does not require a user account or the transfer of match or usage data to the developer's servers.
Ref7 does not use analytics, advertising or tracking services.
The data required to conduct and document a handball match is generally processed locally on the iPhone and the paired Apple Watch.
2. Locally Stored Match Data
Ref7 may process and store the following data locally in particular:
- team names and team colours,
- scores, match times and match phases,
- goals and reversed goals,
- player numbers and penalties,
- team time-outs and time corrections,
- match settings and presets,
- freely entered notes and archive labels, and
- locally archived matches.
This match data is not transferred to the developer's servers.
Depending on the content entered by the user, individual details may make it possible to identify natural persons. This applies in particular to player numbers in connection with a team and a specific match, as well as to freely entered text.
3. Apple Watch Synchronization
To use the Apple Watch functions, match data, settings and technical status information are exchanged between the paired iPhone and Apple Watch using the WatchConnectivity technology provided by Apple.
This synchronization serves exclusively to provide Ref7's functionality. The developer does not operate a dedicated server for this purpose.
4. Subscription and Apple App Store
A Ref7 subscription is purchased and managed through the Apple App Store and the StoreKit technology provided by Apple.
Ref7 receives from Apple the information required to determine the status and validity of the subscription. This may include, in particular, information about the purchase, expiry, revocation and renewal status.
Through Ref7, the developer does not have access to the user's credit card information, bank details, billing addresses or other payment information.
Ref7 does not transfer receipts or transaction data to its own servers.
Apple's Privacy Policy also applies to the processing of data by Apple.
5. Exporting and Sharing Data
Ref7 allows match information to be exported, in particular as a PDF or CSV file.
Data is exported or shared only as a result of an explicit action by the user. The files are created locally and can then be shared with or saved to a destination selected by the user using functions provided by the operating system.
Ref7 does not automatically upload these files to a server operated by the developer.
Once data has been shared with a recipient, storage location or service selected by the user, Ref7 has no influence over the further processing of the data there.
6. Support and Feedback
Ref7 allows users to voluntarily create a support or feedback email addressed to [email protected].
For this purpose, Ref7 opens the email application configured on the device with a pre-composed message. This message may contain technical information, in particular:
- the app version and build number,
- the iPhone model and iOS version, and
- the Apple Watch model and watchOS version.
The user can review and edit the pre-composed message before sending it and decides whether the email is actually sent.
If the email is sent, the sender's email address, the content of the message and the technical information it contains are processed to handle the support or feedback enquiry.
This data is not used for advertising or profiling and is stored only for as long as necessary to handle the enquiry or as required by statutory retention obligations.
The processing is carried out to handle the respective support or feedback enquiry and, where applicable, for the performance of contractual or pre-contractual measures pursuant to Article 6(1)(b) GDPR, or on the basis of the legitimate interest in providing efficient technical support pursuant to Article 6(1)(f) GDPR.
7. Notifications
With the user's consent, the Apple Watch app may use local notifications, for example when a match phase is about to end, when it actually ends or when a team time-out ends.
These notifications are scheduled locally on the device. Ref7 does not use its own push notification servers for this purpose.
Notification permission can be managed in the device's system settings.
8. Tracking, Advertising, Analytics and Device Access
Ref7 does not use advertising networks, tracking technologies, analytics services, external crash reporting services or third-party SDKs to analyse user behaviour.
In particular, Ref7 does not access location data, contacts, calendars, photos, the camera, the microphone or health data.
Neither the advertising identifier (IDFA) nor the IDFV is used to identify or track users.
9. Local Storage and Deletion
Match data, settings and archives are stored locally on the respective device.
Individual archived matches can be deleted within Ref7. Other local data is changed, overwritten or reset through the respective app functions.
Deleting the app removes from the device the data that Ref7 stores locally within the app's storage area. This does not affect files that have already been exported, data shared with other services or backups managed by the operating system.
10. Changes to these Privacy Notices
These privacy notices may be amended if Ref7 or the applicable legal or technical framework changes.
The version published on this website at the relevant time applies.
